During the final hours of the announcement of the March 28 presidential election...
on Wednesday by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Professor Attahiru Jega, the All Progressives Congress (APC) and its presidential candidate, General Muhammadu Buhari were both quite unsure what would happen next.

The concern was not due to fear of defeat because due to the results trickling in on Tuesday, the APC camp were sure of victory.

Their concern was, however, drawn to the next move by current president, Goodluck Jonathan, the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the election, and if he would reject the results and invoke a military intervention to stop Buhari from ascending to the presidency.

The president, however, in an unexpected move surprised the APC, Buhari and his campaign organization.
He gracefully conceded defeat and in a move not expected in this region of the world, he called to congratulate the president-elect even before the last result was officially announced.
The director of the Media and Publicity Directorate of the All Progressives Congress presidential campaign organization, Mallam Garba, exclaimed shock in this interview with Vanguard.
