GEJ PromisesThe President said this while granting audience to members of the Oodua Cooperative Alliance from the six South Western states in the State House, Lagos, Punch reports.
Jonathan also promised to send a Federal Government delegation to Nairobi, Kenya, in order to adopt the best practices as a similar university was established there.
Further in his speech he stressed that he had always been of the opinion that Nigeria needed specialized universities. According to him, that was one of the reasons for establishing a Maritime University in Delta State.
“On the issue you raised about a University of Cooperative, I will send a team to...
Kenya to go and look at the University there.
“They need to look at the courses they offer, the departments and how the entire institution is structured. Then we will establish our own and it will be located in the South West,” Goodluck Jonathan said.
Today the leaders of market women groups, known as Iyalojas, in Lagos and environs, also paid him a solidarity visit at the State House.
Talking to the women the President highlighted that the victory of the Peoples Democratic Party in the upcoming general elections would free Lagos residents from oppression.
